meet some of OUR BIBLE OPERATORS leading ministries and men

Special Forces Veteran, Pastor, Author, Non profit leader

BIBLE OPERATOR: Wesley N. Carey

Wesley N. Carey is a 13-year veteran of the U.S. Army Special Forces, known by the call sign “Bravo X-Ray.” A combat-tested Green Beret, Carey deployed multiple times in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation New Dawn, where he honed not only his skills as a warrior but also the resilience and grit that would later shape his ministry. His military career forged in him a deep understanding of sacrifice, leadership, and brotherhood—qualities he now channels into his mission of discipling and equipping men in faith.

Following his service, Carey transitioned from the battlefield to a new mission field: the Kingdom of God. He serves as the President of Bible Operator, a ministry dedicated to strengthening active-duty and veteran men through biblical masculinity, spiritual maturity, and intentional brotherhood. Under his leadership, Bible Operator provides small groups, retreats, training, and resources aimed at tackling the unique challenges military men face—including mental health struggles, PTSD, and suicide prevention—while grounding them in Christ-centered discipleship.

In addition to his national ministry, Carey is the Associate Pastor of Lawton Street Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida, where he serves his local community with the same intensity and heart he brought to his military career. He also plays an active role in The King’s Guard, a discipleship program designed to train and equip men to stand firm in faith and lead with courage.

Carey is also the author of “Grit & Grace: Cultivating a Faith that Fights,” a commentary on the Epistle of James that bridges his Special Forces experience with biblical truth. In it, he calls men to embrace both strength and humility, courage and reliance on God, showing how faith must be as tough as it is tender.

Wesley Carey’s journey from Special Forces soldier to pastor and ministry leader embodies the transformation of a warrior’s heart through the power of faith. Today, he stands as a voice to veterans, churches, and communities, reminding them that the battles of life are not won by strength alone but by the grace of God.

APOLOGETICS PASTOR, AUTHOR, founder of The Boundless Bible.

bible operator: Dr. David Shapiro

David was born and raised in New York City within an Orthodox Jewish family. Struggling with his faith and dyslexia, he eventually became an atheist and sought meaning through various intense experiences, including military service, professional fighting, and the pursuit of constant thrills. However, these adventures left him feeling empty. One day, feeling a deep pull, David walked into a local church, and that moment became the turning point that led him to embrace Christ.

Driven by a newfound faith, David returned to academia to explore the logical foundations of his beliefs. He earned a Bachelor’s in Biblical Studies and Christian Counseling, a Master’s in Biblical Archaeology, and a Doctorate in Religious Education, marking the start of his journey into apologetics.

Though it wasn’t a path he expected, it’s one that David embraces wholeheartedly. Today, he is passionate about sharing his story and spreading the message of Christ through his books, podcast, and public speaking engagements.

UNITED K9 FOUNDER CRAig R. hanna

Bible Operator: Craig R. Hanna

Craig R. Hanna's journey has been one of resilience, born from hardship and struggle. Growing up with little stability, Craig found solace in animals, particularly dogs, who became his constant companions in the face of loneliness and rejection. After being kicked out on graduation day, Craig worked multiple jobs just to survive, battling the darkness with alcohol as a crutch. But his turning point came when he joined the U.S. Army, where he found purpose as a Combat Engineer and K9 trainer, bonding with his K9 partner, Raja.

After leaving the military due to an injury, Craig faced new challenges—disability, divorce, and unemployment. Yet, armed with only $50, he founded United K9, starting with his Belgian Malinois, Elektra. The spark of hope quickly grew into a thriving business, and today, United K9 encompasses 29 locations across Texas, an academy, and multiple brands. Craig’s mission goes beyond business—it’s about resilience, overcoming the odds, and creating lasting impact for both humans and dogs. United K9 stands as proof that even in the darkest times, we all have the power to rise, find purpose, and make a difference.

Veteran, Founder of Veteran's Outpost

Bible Operator: David Thompson

David Thompson is a U.S. Army veteran, former Combat Photojournalist, and founder of Veterans Outpost, a 46-acre ranch in Greenville, Texas, dedicated to the holistic care of military personnel, veterans, law enforcement, and their families. Serving alongside his wife, Wendy, Thompson has built Veterans Outpost into a sanctuary for healing—physically, emotionally, spiritually, and economically.

During his Army service, Thompson worked as a Combat Photojournalist, photo lab manager, and Public Affairs Officer with the Joint Task Force/Central Identification Lab in Hawaii, where he helped identify, document, and repatriate POW/MIA remains from past conflicts. His career shaped a deep respect for the sacrifices of his fellow servicemen and women, and a lifelong commitment to their memory and well-being.

In 2016, Thompson and his wife established Veterans Outpost after a life-changing experience: while hosting veteran events at a motocross park, a family told him that a struggling veteran had decided not to end his life after attending one of the gatherings. That moment shifted Thompson’s retirement plans into a mission to create a dedicated refuge where veterans and their families could find hope, connection, and purpose.

Today, Veterans Outpost provides a wide range of programs designed to combat the epidemic of veteran and law enforcement suicides. These include equine and bovine therapy, outdoor activities, peer-to-peer counseling, creative writing, meditation, and practical courses such as navigating VA claims. The ranch also provides crisis referrals, donates beef to veteran food banks, and runs the Rucks of Love program to support homeless veterans. During COVID, they expanded their impact by supplying housing and essentials to veterans in need.

In recognition of his work, Thompson was honored in 2023 by the Blinded American Veterans Foundation for his dedication to the veteran community. Through Veterans Outpost, he continues to provide a path to healing and resilience for countless warriors and their families, embodying the values of service, sacrifice, and brotherhood.
